Privacy policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to the AstraGo app for iPhone and iPad and this support website. Developer and contact details appear at the end of this page. Apple and other websites you choose to visit have their own privacy policies.

2. Data used by the app

Games & analysis

Current matches, saved games, move records and review analysis are stored locally in the app to resume matches and view or review records. KataGo runs on your device; games are not sent to a cloud AI service.

Practice & settings

Completed exercises, recently visited lessons, puzzle unlock progress, daily answer usage, and theme, language and sound preferences are stored on your device to restore your progress and settings.

Purchase status

The app uses Apple StoreKit to obtain product information and verified transaction status, check access to full review and separately purchased themes, and handle restoration or revocation. We do not receive your Apple Account password or full payment-card details.

The current version has no account registration, app-managed cloud sync, advertising, cross-app tracking or third-party behavioural analytics SDK. It does not request access to contacts, location, the camera or the microphone.

3. Network access & third-party services

Your device communicates with Apple when loading prices, purchasing or restoring purchases. For Apple's handling of account, payment and store data, see App Store & Privacy. Store reports and system diagnostics provided by Apple are governed by your Apple privacy settings and Apple's policies. The app includes no additional service that automatically uploads diagnostics.

If you open a puzzle source, licence or other external link, the destination website receives the information normally needed to serve a web page. External websites are outside the app's local storage.

We do not sell local game records or practice data, or use them to target advertising.

4. Retention & deletion

Game records and practice data remain on your device for continued use. Swipe a record to the left under Records on the home screen to delete it. Deleting the app removes game records, practice progress and settings from its sandbox. System backups, access records in the keychain and Apple's transaction records may remain and are managed by iOS, iPadOS and Apple.

The app has no accounts, so there is no app account to close. Deleting local data does not revoke purchases or delete transaction records Apple is legally required to retain. Restoring purchases restores only the corresponding access rights.

If you have sent the developer an issue description or screenshot, use the contact details to request access, correction or deletion. We retain only what is needed to handle that issue. Once resolved, unnecessary information is no longer retained unless required by law.

5. This website & contacting us

This website has no advertising tracking, marketing cookies or visitor analytics scripts. It is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in Sydney, Australia, and requires no login. The server processes IP addresses, browser information, access times, request paths and error logs needed to serve pages, maintain the site and protect its security, not to build advertising profiles. When you contact the developer by email, we receive your sender address, message and attachments to respond to your request. Send only information needed to resolve the issue. Email and hosting service records are retained according to those services' policies.

6. Children

Local play and practice do not require a name, age or contact details. Children should obtain a guardian's consent before making purchases or sending personal information to the developer. Guardians may contact us to request deletion of information sent by mistake.

7. Policy updates

If we add accounts, online matches, advertising, analytics or other features that change how data is handled, we will update this policy and seek consent where needed. The updated date is shown at the top of this page.
